The Best General Resources for Gifted Education













There are many good resources available for gifted education. Today I want to share with you some of the best, GENERAL RESOURCES in the field. You'll want to bookmark all of these.
  • Davidson Institute for Talent Development—While this organization has an emphasis on profoundly gifted children, it also has a large, well-organized, online library of articles having to do with gifted education at all levels.  It also has a very active online forum.
  • NAGC—This is the website for the National Association for Gifted Children. Here you will find program standards; resources for teachers and parents; information on publications and conventions, statistics, policies, and contacts at the state level; and a list of expert speakers.
  • SENG—SENG is an acronym for Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted. This organization tackles such topics as motivation, discipline, stress management, and peer relationships  through parent groups and print resources.
  • Hoagies' Gifted Education Page—Hoagies' bills itself as the "all things gifted" resource for parents, teachers, administrators, mental health professionals, and gifted kids and adults. It contains an enormous collection of articles and links to every imaginable topic associated with gifted education.
  • Cogito—This is an online community for academically talented youth, with an emphasis on science and math. It is run by Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. The site is constantly expanding and points highly capable students to resources that might otherwise be difficult to find.
